IN-CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name: Amy Pond
Fandom: Doctor Who
Age: Approximately 22
Canon Point: Post-6x11 'The God Complex'
Original Universe or Alternate Universe? OU

Personality

'Twelve years! ... Twelve years and four psychiatrists.'

Amelia Pond is, in a word, stubborn. Growing up as a stoic and headstrong young girl, she has never been afraid to go the extra length to get what she wants. Praying to Santa as a seven year old to fix the crack in her wall, she takes The Doctor's sudden appearance in her stride and does what she can to help him in return for him fixing her wall, and their short meeting affects her irrevocably. Spurring her taste for adventure, Amy spends the rest of her childhood dreaming of her Raggedy Man and the thrills that he promised her.

Jump twelve years forward, and the abandoned Amy has given up her fairy tale name and the dreams attached to it. She's grown up, a little bitter and a little cynical because of the so called imaginary friend that called on her all those years ago. Of course, he slams back into her life and it doesn't take long for that desire to kick in all over again. Amy Pond, living in England with a Scottish accent she fiercely retains, who after all these years still believes in her imaginary friend, runs away to the stars. She's certainly more guarded though. It's easier to hold everyone at a slight distance than risk the abandonment again, and it's easiest to see this with Rory. Despite the fact that she's days away from marrying him, it isn't until he dies (for the first time anyway) that her feelings really become apparent. Before that its all joking comments and friendly punches to the arm, never quite willing to get invested enough to show him how she feels. When he's killed though, she completely shuts down. Amy is even willing to risk the life of herself and the Doctor to potentially get him back.

Despite the detachment, there's no denying that she's loyal. She'll go to the ends of the earth for "her boys", breaks completely when her daughter is taken away from her, and is fiercely protective of the people she calls her own. When given the chance to show mercy to the woman who stole her daughter, she ignores the typical trend of the Doctor and his companions, and ensures her death. She later expresses a lot of concern about her actions (in another timeline - it's Doctor Who what do you expect) but that doesn't change the fact that when the opportunity presented itself for her to take her chance at payback, she essentially killed a person. She'll go to great lengths for her family - blood and chosen.

At the end of the day, she's her own person. Hard to understand at first, guarded in the face of emotions and flippant in the face of death. She'll joke until the last moment - unless of course the Weeping Angels are involved - and very rarely lets her true feelings show until its too late. She's smart and rebellious, with her head in the stars. Amy Pond, mad, impossible Amy Pond grew up with a crack in time in her wall and the universe pouring through her mind, and it shows.
